During its service life of over a decade; the Spitfire went through an adventurous metamorphosis. Originally conceived as a quick ascending interceptor with focus on agility, the later development turned towards its mobility traits, introducing a new frame and engine, propelling the Spitfire past its expiration date and into the second half of the 20th century.
